The Crunchy Cardamom is a personal blog. There are no accounts, no logins, and nothing to sign up for, so there is very little about you for this site to know. This page explains the little there is.

What is collected
Visits are measured with Matomo, an open-source analytics tool. It runs on the same server that hosts this blog, atstats.thecrunchycardamom.com. Your visit is not shared with Google Analytics, an advertising network, or any other third-party analytics service — the data stays on hardware belonging to this site.
Matomo is configured to run without cookies. For each page view it records:
- the page you looked at, and when
- the page or search engine that referred you, if any
- your approximate location, derived from your IP address
- your browser, operating system, and screen size
This is used only to understand which posts people find useful and how they arrive here. It is never sold, never shared, and never used to build an advertising profile. The legal basis is legitimate interest in understanding the site's audience (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)).
As with any website, the web server also keeps standard access logs in order to operate the site securely.
Cookies
This site sets no analytics cookies and no advertising cookies. Matomo is loaded with cookies explicitly disabled, which is why you are not asked to accept a cookie banner.
Opting out
Matomo respects the Do Not Track setting in your browser: turn it on and your visits will not be recorded. You can also opt out directly atthe opt-out page, or block analytics with a content blocker — none of it affects how the site works for you.
Comments, newsletters, and forms
There are none. This site has no comment section, no mailing list, and no forms of any kind, so there is no way for you to submit personal information to it. If that changes, this page will be updated first.
Links to other sites
Posts and the site footer link out to other places, including Instagram, Facebook, and X. Once you follow such a link you are on someone else's site, covered by their privacy policy rather than this one. No social media buttons, embedded players, or third-party widgets that could track you are loaded on these pages — the site's content security policy forbids them.
How long data is kept
Analytics data is retained only as long as it is useful for understanding how the blog is read, and is deleted or aggregated thereafter.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access the data held about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive it in a portable form. Because this site does not identify visitors by name or account, locating data about a specific person may require you to provide additional detail. Write to hello@thecrunchycardamom.com and the request will be handled.
If you believe your data has been mishandled, you may lodge a complaint with the Finnish supervisory authority, theOffice of the Data Protection Ombudsman.
Changes to this policy
If the way this site handles data changes, this page will be revised and the date at the top updated.
